Update on Covid-19: Telehealth for Psychology

We are open for in person or online and telephone therapy. These sessions are rebatable
via Medicare and bulk billing will apply, depending on need. All young people are eligible
for bulk billing as well as those on government benefits or those at particular risk for
Coronavirus.

We want to help you maintain good emotional and mental health in this stressful time.
Here are a few pointers:

  • Keep up a regular routine in your day which involves some outdoor time, some work
time, family and/or friend time, some relaxing time.
  • In this time we need to find a little something that gives us some sense of grounding
everyday. Most likely something creative or right brained!
  • This should be something that we can do every day…. a regular practice of sorts that we
stick to. Maybe yoga, maybe drawing, maybe singing or playing music, perhaps
journaling. These activities help keep us calm, and give us a sense of fulfilment.
Don’t get hooked on the news or social media. It will give you a distorted picture and
raise anxiety or other difficult emotions.
  • We are all vulnerable and unsettled in uncertain times. We all react differently to feeling
unsettled. Learn from others who have fared well in these experiences. Look for
inspiration from people who you can trust, who are offering something you can value.
Find meaning from spiritual and thought leaders but be discerning as a lot of people
think they know more than they do!
  • Accept that life always changes, like a flower, it blossoms and dies. Our ideas that life
should be stable are being challenged by this remarkably destabilising event. Now is the
time to self reflect and check in with your own values, beliefs and actions.
  • Ideally when this pandemic is no longer a central part of our lives, let’s be able to say to
ourselves………. I’m proud of how I handled that. I looked after myself and I looked after
others and I’m better for it.
  • Most of all….. ask for help when needed, our psychologists are here for one off
consultations and longer therapy. We are here to offer you a sounding board and see
you through this challenging moment in our lives.
